What kind of toys do you specialise in?
I focus on character and film-related toys. Things people instantly recognise and feel nostalgic about. I love pieces that take people back to their childhood. The Six Million Dollar Man toys are a great example. They remind me of sitting down to watch TV on a Friday night as a treat. That emotional connection is what makes them special.
What’s the most unusual or valuable toy you’ve sold?
A Star Trek Phaser Gun stands out as it sold for over £100. Items tied to iconic shows can really hold or increase their value, especially if they’re rare or in great condition.
Are there any surprising items people might have at home that are worth money?
Often it’s the small, overlooked parts. A full set might be valuable, but a missing accessory can matter just as much. To a collector, that one tiny piece can be worth a lot. It’s always worth checking.
What storage challenges did you face early on?
Space was a big issue. I ran out of room at home and ended up carrying boxes around in my car which was not exactly ideal as the business grew.
How important is proper storage?
It’s essential. Finding the collector for your item is not always instant and you need storage to keep your item safe until the right person comes along. Also, boxed vintage toys are worth so much more and so you need to protect the box and stop it getting wet, crushed or bent.
